While we encourage each of our partner projects to solicit and raise donor support, it is critical that you accurately represent your project’s relationship with us. As a sponsored project under our Model C arrangement, certain words and phrases should NOT be used to describe your position under Compass Charitable Partners, as they have legal meanings beyond what you would intend in any communication:
- fiscal agent
- fiscal agency
- pass-through
- conduit
- umbrella
- laundering
- earmark
- intermediary
- partner (yes, we know…)
About that last one, we may consider you a “partner”, but that’s not OK language for you to communicate to your project’s potential donors.
